Art and science are often perceived as opposing or even incompatible fields. In response to this notion, we launched the CreSci project.
This first kick-off event was organized at mudaC (Arts Museum of Carrara) by a group of theoretical physicists, computer scientists, and philosophers: Dr. Flavio Del Santo (University of Vienna), Prof. Borivoje Dakić (University of Vienna), Dr. Veronika Baumann (TU Wien), Prof. Stefan Wolf (USI Lugano), and Dr. Stefano Osnaghi (IQOQI/Austrian Academy of Sciences) in collaboration with the Municipality of Carrara, UNESCO, and the cultural association APS Oltre. They all held talks on creativity, science, and their interplay before an audience of artists based in Carrara, who actively participated in the discussions.
Carrara was identified as the perfect environment to cultivate the idea of scientific creativity, given its strong tradition of fostering artistic expression. The project aimed to encourage new synergies between the local artistic community and scientists, generating ideas and projects that bridge these seemingly disparate worlds. This initiative provided Carrara with an opportunity to expand its reputation beyond its artistic heritage, embracing new cultural forms and establishing an international community of physicists, philosophers, and professionals in the field.
